This place is only open 3 days a week and they close from 1130am-330pm. There is only 1 person working at any given time. You can get there at 330 and wait for 45 min only to be licked out at 430 on the dot because they WILL NOT work a second after then. If you need to do anything just go to Killeen because this place is a huge time waste
Was at this office this week one day at 4:30 when it closed, and frankly had no problem leaving then. Frustrating yes, but I know that HEB or Wal-Mart isn't going to stay open past business hours just to help me either so I'm not sure why anyone thinks this is going to be any different. The lady working there was helping a very elderly gentleman that took close to 30 minutes to help him, and when the office closed at 4:30 there were a good 15 people left waiting to be helped. I am guessing by a average of how long it took to help each customer means everyone in there including the employee would have been there until 8:30 or 9:00 pm if she had not closed at 4:30. I know it's annoying that she is unable to help everyone in there but there's a reason they close at 4:30. The day I was in there the only rudeness I saw was from the people waiting, the lady was polite to everyone, she was very kind and patient with the older man she was helping that look a long time. At the bank the other day a lady was saying she heard that the DPS is going to close down all the small town driver's license offices and only have large offices in bigger cities, so be glad this office is even open right now.
I went to this office 3 times since May to get my daughters permit, and if you can read unlike a lot of people in Lampasas, the sign does not say they will be closed for a 3 hour lunch, it says they close for lunch at 12, and that they do driving tests until 3:30. I have read this sign many times. I have been there first thing in the morning, and when the lady tells everyone what time she is closing. I guess people think she's just supposed to work all day without a break or lunch. Would you do that on your job? No and neither would I.
I don't feel the woman working there is the problem, she may not be the friendliest person but she was never rude to me any of the times I went there. We, the people are the problem. We don't want to accept that we are wrong and try to blame everyone else. I will admit I was in the wrong the first 2 times I went and wanted to direct my blame at her when I realized she did nothing wrong, all she tried to do was help me but I didn't take it.
This place is a joke. There was literally one person at the counter responsible for an entire room of people. Also, every day from 12-3:30pm they're closed for driving exams. It's absolutely ridiculous that there isn't another person that can assist people at the desk while this is happening. I will never go there again and I don't recommend this place unless you want to waste your whole day waiting.
The reason I had to go back 3 times was completely my own fault. The first time I went in there, the lady was nice to me, gave me a fold out pamphlet with all the steps to obtain a permit or license. I assumed I had everything, and did not read it. I was wrong. On my 2nd attempt, my daughter had an expired form proving she was in school. Once again, my fault. At the bottom of the form it clearly says it's only valid for 30 days and I had received it much prior to that. The 3rd time I was able to get her permit, but the only person I could be mad at was myself. I had all the correct information and I did not read it.
Be Prepared! Closed Monday and Friday not to mention 3 hours out of the day when they are open, and be prepared to deal with a rude clerk who will throw you out no matter what.
I am shocked that people from the town I grew up in are so mean and hateful towards someone. I recently saw a post on Facebook about this office in the Lampasas news section. From what I can tell the person who wrote the post is an ignorant old lady with nothing to do with her time but complain.
